Army helicopters lend themselves to customization with unit markings, nose art, etc. because they were always basically the same color with only standard markings such as UNITED STATES ARMY and a tail number painted in black. For the LZ series, the artist has produced standard version prints with only these basic markings. For customized prints, the artist will paint, by hand, unit markings, platoon colors, tail numbers, nose art, and any other personal markings requested by the client. Armament configurations can also be modified on the gunships, and crew configurations can be changed on the 0H-6A. Various aircraft models can be depicted also, for example, a UH-1H can be changed to a D Model, the UH-1C can be changed to a B, and the CH-47A can be changed to a B or C model, with FOD screens, etc.. Extensive reference files are maintained with unit markings photos. If your aircraft had a one-of-a-kind, or unique marking, a photo or detailed description is requested. The time period depicted, for example, 1968-69, is also useful, since some unit markings changed over the years. All prints are signed and numbered by the artist, and usually also include a hand-written notation describing the unit, time period, and the pilot’s or unit’s callsign. All prints are limited edition, so that when the last one is sold, no more will be available. |
